Brooklyn Reads 2014!

Clara Barton High School is again engaged in an inspiring creative partnership with our friends at the Brooklyn Academy of Music...BAM! We are super-excited that we will be attending Paige in Full: A B-Girl's Visual Mixtape on March 11. You can read about it here. Information about our 2013 program is here.

BAM!

The Mirror Game

Watch Jonathan play "mirror" to Mo Beasley...

Zombies
Flesh so tender
Flesh so sweet
Please don't shoot me
Please don't kill me
Please don't hurt me
Please don't yell at me
I need some blood
I'll be your friend
Help me spread my wrath
Don't take me back to the underworld.

I Am
I am a valley, low like negative twenty,
I am Nancy squared.
I am as bright as the full moon -
I am the best of both worlds -  hell and heaven.

Food for Thought
When I eat my mom’s macaroni and cheese
It makes me want to dance!
Fried chicken tastes like heaven -
Chicken grease drips like raindrops.
You are chicken sweet!

The following poems are group student  works created during our 2013 Brooklyn Reads workshops...

Who says...

Who says I’m stupid?
Who says I’m not cool?
(I do!)

Who says I’m crazy?
Who says I’m not cute?
(I do!)

Who says I’m retarded?
Who says I’m not smart?
(I do!)

Who says I’m wrong?
Who says I’m not independent?
(I do!)

We say we're different...just like you.

We are chicken sweet!
